Six items with a real lower and upper limit. Not one figure below is a guess: all of them are derived from published price guides, and where those guides disagree we say so rather than averaging over it.

VAT is the real problem here

Of the fifteen price guides scanned, four state whether their figures include VAT. Garden work carries 21 per cent on labour as well as materials; the reduced rate on labour in this trade has not existed since 2015. The difference between 75 euro including and 80 euro excluding is 22 euro an hour, and that is exactly the margin in which quotations get compared. Everything on this site is inclusive.

What these figures rest on

Four sources, scanned on 24 August 2026. Per source: what was taken from it and how it was converted.

TuinHub, updated 13 July 202655 to 70 euro an hour excluding VAT for a small garden firm, 60 to 80 for Amsterdam and the Randstad. Multiplied by 1.21 that is 66.55 to 84.70 and 72.60 to 96.80 including VAT. Our 68 to 82 sits at the bottom of that. The same source is the only one that splits labour from materials on paving.
Kosten-Hovenier, published 3 February 2026The Randstad runs 10 to 25 per cent above national rates. For garden construction the same source quotes 85 to 220 euro per m2 including VAT, split across simple, average and high-end.
Homedeal, updated 10 April 202650 to 100 euro per m2 including VAT for garden construction, and a maintenance scale of 2 to 4, 4 to 7 and 7 to 12 euro per m2 per year. That first band contradicts Kosten-Hovenier by a factor of two to four on the same VAT basis.
Groenbron and Hovenier.nl4 to 8 euro per linear metre for cutting a hedge, and a work norm of about ten metres an hour. Neither source states whether VAT is included; at our hourly rate that norm works out at 6.80 to 8.20 per metre, which falls inside our band.
